Your questions are a good start.
You can ask about counseling before deciding to begin. Start with what you want to know.

Who do you work with?+
Selah offers virtual therapy for adults and couples in New York and New Jersey. People of all cultures are welcome, with particular experience supporting Black adults. The approach is culturally attuned and grounded in an awareness of how race, culture, faith, and systems shape lived experiences.
What happens when we first talk?+
The 15-minute consultation has no fee. It is a chance to share what brings you here, ask questions, and explore whether working together feels like a fit. You don’t need to commit to ongoing therapy.
Do I have to know what to talk about?+
No. You can begin with a feeling, a recent experience, or simply the sense that something needs attention. You don’t have to arrive with a diagnosis or a polished explanation.
What are your fees, and do you accept insurance?
Selah is a private pay practice and does not accept insurance.

How much will therapy cost over time?+
Your total cost depends on how often you meet and the length of your sessions. Under the No Surprises Act, people paying out of pocket have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges. Selah will provide an estimate of anticipated treatment costs over a year.
Where do sessions take place?+
All sessions are virtual. Services are available in New York and New Jersey. You must be physically located in New York or New Jersey during your session.
Is therapy worth the money?
Therapy is an additional expense, and its value is personal. It can offer support for understanding yourself, managing stress, and changing relationship patterns, but no specific outcome is guaranteed.
Consider how your current challenges affect your life and what you hope support could make possible. You can discuss your goals, budget, and expected costs before deciding whether to begin.
How do I know which session length is right for trauma recovery?
You don’t have to decide alone. Standard 53-minute sessions offer a consistent space for the work. Extended 110-minute sessions allow more time for processing, reflection, and grounding. You and Dr. Crosse can consider your needs, goals, and comfort together.
Will I need extended sessions every time?
No. Extended sessions are optional. You may prefer regular standard sessions or find additional time helpful at certain points. Session length can change as your needs evolve.
Is Christian faith part of every session?+
Only if you want it to be. Dr. Crosse can integrate Christian faith and spirituality based on your preferences and goals. You do not need to be Christian to work with her.
Do I have to try Brainspotting?+
No. You can discuss the approach, its evidence and limitations, and your preferences before deciding whether it belongs in your work together.
Will therapy guarantee a particular outcome?+
No. Therapy is a collaborative process, and experiences and outcomes vary. You and Dr. Crosse can talk about your goals and revisit how the work is going.
